How to be perfect techie guy
At www.lockergnome.com/chronotos that is a name, nickname with handle has been blogging and he has posted top five or six tips specifically for budding local technicians. So, if you are a geek who loves helping people, you knock at the woods even if you do not live in the woods or you do not have an act this tips might come handy. Number one always does your best possible and thorough job on the computers that you repair.
The quality of the job will speak to others on the quality of your workmanship and you should be striving for high standard of repair completion. It is kind a like a number five, but five goes into the reason why you should you be doing a good repair, I guess we will get to that in a bit. Number two never under any circumstance take other peoples hardware. They paid for their hardware and no matter how much of an idiot you may think the customer is they do not deserve to be you know, well taken for a ride by the people they trusted to fixed to the PC they bought with the hardware that came of the PC.
Also never steal or use someone else’s software or CD keys. XP or Vista keys are valuable commodities these days because of the crack down on piracy. In the wrong hands this kind of information will make the customers PC useless because the keys themselves were activated on a different machine through LUM CD keys or as far as it is useful because they are tied into that particular manufacture more or so with Vista.
But it does not mean that the retail keys are worthless, this goes rather software as well. Just do not steal. Number three always ask the customer what he or she wants done with that computer. Do not exceed the requests of the customer. They do not ask you to do extras and you certainly would not be able paid for it. Also, if your extras really mess up the computer in anyway you just lost your self of future customer and possible customers depending on the person whose computer you messed up. Keep with standard windows no tricks.
Number four never ever insult intelligence of the customer in always be curious and honest with the customer people can tell normally when you are feeding them a lie and it is just not worthy when it comes to PC repair.
Number five reputation is everything. As a local type, word of mouth is your friend. You do a very bad job than the word will get out and you will never get the PC repair job in that area again.
Make sure you take all precautions with all the system you have fixed and make sure you always do the best possible job you can when repairing PCs. Then when the word gets out that you do a high quality job you get more jobs because people will trust word of mouth. There are so many more things I could go into with by code of ethics but these tips are the most important. Think a lot of local technicians and I use local in a broad sense have been hurt by supper stores or the communization of technicians. I am not going to name any names right now, this time not. I think you know I am talking about though.
I mean if you made a living of helping people with their computer and suddenly this big known brand is helping people with their computers and suddenly you look like small potatoes. So, customer service is very; very—it is your best friend really. How do you get to that point? It starts with the passion, you know you learn as you go along.
