David Epstein: Welcome to growingwisdom.com I am here with Barry Swanson for Corliss Landscaping and Irrigation. We are just going to blow the system out today what you want to call right.
Barry Swanson: Blow out the winterized system.
David Epstein: Winterized System so I am in irrigation system we have both drip as well as the spray heads and you have to winterize. So just please tell me what is that mean?
Barry Swanson: What we did is we have a compressor and we hook up to the planning system were the water exit the house we called the backflow. We hook an air hose up to that and we blow 75 pounds of air through the system a zone at the time. So, we are getting the majority of the water out that is what we do with the drip and the alarm head on so forth and then depending upon how your system is tight in you are plumbing in your house.
You have to drain what they call the backflow. You do not want to blow air through the backflow if you can help it because it tends to were out the rubber gas and so forth. So, we just put the air in the system go through the zone at a time and gets all the water out, they are now freezing and drain the backflow.
David Epstein: That is the important piece that we do not want water on those pipes on winter because it will expand and it could cracked the pipes underneath the ground.
Barry Swanson: Exactly.
David Epstein: And then in the spring you will just come back and you start the system back-up again.
Barry Swanson: Start the system up and start the cycle all over.
David Epstein: And whole the cycle starts all over again. Great so if you have any irrigation system at home be sure that you do call your irrigation professional and have them winterize the system get the water out before freezes and of course if you are lucky enough to live where it does not freeze you can just keep your system going all year long.
