Beryl Stokes: Hi and welcome to Cajun Cooking TV tonight, goofball cameraman. We are cooking some stake and we want some fresh asparagus to go with this. So let me show you really quick how that is done and it is so easy and this is much better than out of the can.
There’s four of us tonight, so I got two of these clusters of asparagus. I rinse them really well but I kept one of these rubber bands on it so it will be easier to cut. So you just want to cut off this thick part right there, spread it out in a wide skillet. I got about a cup of water down in there, pull this down a little, but this helps keep all the stems together, like that right down there, spread it out. We are going to put some butter across here and a little bit of sea salt.
We are going to bring this to a boil and let us simmer for about 5 or 6 minutes. It will be ready to go. It just been about 5 to 6 minutes and then we got some steamed asparagus here. We are so fancy over here, I’ve got a special plate, some are loaded up, bring it to the table and serve in that beautiful steamed asparagus.
