Hello everybody. This Is Franklin Hill with excibition.com, today I am going to show you how to make a web2.0 logo for your website. This is a video request that I got from Christine. She wants to know how to make a web2.0 logo.
By the way I am using the gimp which is a very nice easy to use and free for editor. So, the first thing you do is go to fire new, select the size of the layer and then click okay. So, that is our first layer and then you add some text, click on the text tool and type some text, click okay. Select the color for the layer, click okay, click on the mode tool, and click on the text send over the text on your layer. Go to layer, duplicate layer, click on the layer, and drag it down to the bottom of the second layer, then go to layer, transform, rotate a hundred and 180 degrees and then select the flip tool, and flip the text. So, that it looks like the reflection of the first layer of the text. And then, you select the blend tool and make sure this color, it sets as the same color at the background color of the picture in this case black. The gradient tool should be set as for ground to transparent.
So, that is okay. And then, once you make sure the layer is selected as you can see, there is a boarder around the layer, which means it is selected. You drag the mouse from the bottom to the top of the layer until you get the desired color or the desired amount of shade that you want for the text that looks good. And then, you select the first layer, and then you go to the round select tool, select that tool and make a selection on top of the text. Do not select the whole text only go half way to top to bottom. Make a selection there and then you select the blend tool again. This time instead of going from bottom to top, you go from top to bottom and you do this once and maybe once again until you get some kind of shape effect and then you will click on select mode.
For the purpose of this video, I want to show you guys the basics of how to make a web2.0 logo. Once you guys, start working with this program and you get to know how to use all the tools that you have with this program. You will be able to do better things than what I did here. But, once again, this is only for the purpose of showing you the basics of how to use it and so, that is it for now guys, this is Franklin with excibition.com.
