All right folks. A lot of people have been emailing me asking exactly the same question and that is, they like to be a DJ, but what gears should they buy. Should it be the CDJ, vinyl turntables or PC?
Now, the first question that you have to ask yourself is, what is your vote? In other words, I would like you to watch loads of videos of DJs using gear. I would like you to just watch CDJ, the whole lot, watch everything. What tickles your fancy? What do you prefer to watch? Do you prefer to watch CDJs? Do you prefer to watch vinyl or PC? Because that is your answer first of all.
Now then, again, what you have to consider is where you live. For example, you live in the middle of Australia, at the middle of Africa, at the middle of Russia, China, Japan, it does not matter with virtually no record shops around you. Let us say that you like and you like the idea of vinyl turntables. Now, all is not lost. In this case, I think I do a similar thing whereby you have what is known as virtual vinyls. Two pieces of vinyl that you have, just a normal vinyl, and you put a reel on the record. And what you can do is that you could actually use the music from your PC. And what happens is that all the music is in your PC. As soon as you put the media on the record, spin it backwards, you will be using the music on the hard drive.
Now, if you want any more information on the scratch life, you got a couple of options. You can go to www.mixeronbeat.com and ask there a DJ for all youtube.com/brighteswerd because he got a similar thing and he can tell you that. So again, all is not lost. So if you are in the middle of Australia with no record shops, just text in your comments on names of other virtual liners. And then, all that you can do then is go to the music shops on your own and then pay for damaged music and put it on the hard drive and there you go. You got vinyl turntables.
Again, if let us say that you like CDJs, again, there are no record shops around, of course, you can go online. You can download your music, burn it on CDs and there you go. Exactly the same place with the PC program. Because we are in such a digital range and music is quite available, it does not really matter what format you use whether it is CDJs, vinyl turntables or a PC.
Of course, there is this ongoing saga of vinyl better than PC and CDJs and all those sort of stuff. But at the end of the day, I have said in a video a while ago, the only thing that really matters is the music. If music rocks your boat, to be quite honest, it does not matter if it is played through a tin can. If you are enjoying and you are having fun, then who gives a monkeys.
That is what you are going to practice and enjoy. I hope that this has been a help. Take it easy.
