Hi folks, it is Jonathan here. Now, this is video number five in the selection on doing on counting bars and phrases in different kinds of music. In the video number five, we will be going to be counting bars and phrases in the type of music called ray groove. Now, ray groove again has timing it has a beat. The difference with ray groove as opposed to modern day music is ray groove was not necessarily made with a drum machine in other words the timing, the actual bpm or beats per minute could differ during the calls of the music but we can still count the phrases and we can still count bars. Now, what we will do we will play the particular track. I will let it play and then we will be counting the bars in the music and we will also be counting the phrases as well. So, let us start the track off.

Quite a long introduction to this one. A hold on that because first of all we will be counting a bar and that is a bar in music one, two, three, four.

That is a phrase, which is basically four bars.

Okay, that was counting bars now we are going to look at counting phrases.

Now, we could see the difference between counting bar and counting a phrase is when you cannot bar no count as follows one, two, three, four, one, two, three, four.
When you cannot touch phrase, you are doing nearly exactly the same thing but the difference is this one, one, two, three, two, one, two, three, three, one, two, three, four, one, two, three. In feature videos, I will show you how by counting the phrase will make use actually easier for you to choose where to bring the next track in relation to mixing one track into the other.
