Alright folks this is a video response going out to Youtube user DJ Zero. Can you do video on organizing your music for gig? I am, starting to notice me bringing too much music with me. Like I am bringing CD I do not really use. Is it best for CD’s and folders or CD boxes? Is it best put them in order for different stages of the night? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Then, this is, I suppose in a sense targeted up to all DJ’s who will take CD’s or even records lap to any functions. Mainly really is suppose to mobile DJ’s, let me show you first of all. That there is a pack case logic and it is a bit an oldie, actually it has been built in years, but if you looking the likes of that, you have got pages and pages full of CD’s. Now this one caught the old one. But if you just to show you know, you can have, say a one page, you can have four MP3’s. Let say and I mean each MP3 could haves 100 to 200 three, four, five, 500 songs let say. In then behind that you can have all the relevant information on that CD. Just be bare that in remind for second. Now then, being a mobile DJ my self, what I use to do, I use to take loads of Vinal, loads of CD’s. And I never like this guy here. I never use to use them. It was almost like I just felt like it was comfortable having of all this music around me even though I did not use 90% of it. But as time get goes on, you know you realize, what is point to taking luster because no one going to ask for it
This is what I advise you, off course with modern day gear if you got CD’s players can play MP3, that particular pack I showed you there, that can house hundreds CD’s. Let say that was hundreds MP3 files that would be possibly be enough music to continually play the songs for like two months on that. This is what I would do; I would let the first pages have 50’s. Best of 50’s let say maybe the first couple of pages, then the 60’s, 60’s music rock around the clock Bill Halley, Elvis Presley that is with the stuff Rock and Roll. On the next two pages, then I will have 70’s on the next two pages, then 80’s, 90’s and then on other one I will have the new artist. But then once you go to loss over, then what you can do, you can have one or two pages with house music. You can have one or two with hip-hop, with soul music, with reggae, with rogue. What you doing everything get sectioned off; everything is there right in front of you in relevant areas. I do not know of course like you got the now CD’s. You could have all them in certain areas as well. Then of course the best of, there is best of Michael Jackson, best of ABBA, best of Sheik, best of Prince, best of the Cure. Looking at that basis as well then you could have your party music, the no party, all this other stuff, and these collaborations of like CD’s. Where it is just like Tutsi fruity little record and all of that sort of stuff. If you will call that principle, what you are doing then, instead of your record boxes, CD box being jam packed four of all these cases and I hate them, the four apart.
There is no nothing worse than going to a gig and opening this gate full CD’s. When you open it and then flip over like that. On the one CD falls on the floor, and then the case falls a part and you are like trying to hold everything because it happens. Believe me does happen. You think this is an absolutely nightmare. Something like that is fantastic. You zip it open, you open it up, and you take CD out. You bang it in, turn it over all of information is on the back and of course there is no need to take information from the actual CD. Because you all you got to do, maybe take a bit of time, but just type it out, I think possibly you might even be able go on the web and get all of the track listing off the web then you photo copy it, you put that in your bag, I do not know where you go. See you walking in one small unit. In again same the really with the light, let say surround you scratch the light. I think that is brilliant all those of sort of programs because all you going to do you take a lop top your hard drive covered with turn table a couple with virtual Vinal’s, or virtual CD’s and you are away again, but then logically everything is on the hard drive there.
Going back DJ’s zero, If you need to organize your collection of music, I can not stress enough; something like that, there is a hundred in there. Now again, what you need to do is you need, when I say work a structure, what you are saying as well, is there a structure for the particular, or what would it say, different stages of tonight. I think what he means there or he or she, ‘Sorry’ is should you put the CD’s in here with regards the stages of the night. Now I would say ‘no,’ there is no need because if you have, on the front of that you can have say page one is 50’s, page two 60’s, etcetera. So if it is closes and some one say’s can you play, you look in the front page 17 is best of prince. You can do straight there you see prince, they want 1999 or kiss, bang CD in three buttons with and with about ten seconds your cast coffin worms. And you play the music.
