All right folks, candle using and lighting. So, this is going to be a very first video in the lighting and showing you a few lights, the very basics without going into a lot of detail. Now then, first of all, you have several lighting that is called intelligent lighting. Now, like this guy here, all right. Now, in intelligent lighting it does not mean to say that it is highly intelligent can make a cup of tea for you. What it means is that this unit here can be controlled by DMX controller or DMX control box say, in a certain place in the room and then you have a cable running into this. And then, this can be utilized from the particular person by the DMX controller, pressing a few buttons and then he can manipulate the light to do what he wants it to do.
In other words, if he wants it to go green, if the light has a green effect in there, the light will go green. If he wants to go green flashy, flashy, it can go green flashy, flashy, et cetera. But we will go to more detail during the course of this videos. Now, DMX controllable all right. Now, this one here again, like with that one is doing much controllable but both of these lights, you can also put them to what is known as sound to light. Now, that is very important because if you cannot be asked in getting a DMX controller or you cannot be banded in plugging that all in. In other words, if you are a mobile DJ, and all you want to do is to set a few lines and you do not have bother of that messing around with DMX controller.
What you can do with this is you can get half a dozen of this, two or three, whatever. Make sure all of your little buttons here are set so the unit is working sound to light and what happens? There is a microphone here. If I show you a bit closer, that tiny bit there is a microphone. Now, what that does, it will pick up certain frequencies from your speakers. So, all of a sudden the base kicks in, the right will twist that is how it works. Sang to light and then when you leave it and it will just run through all its patterns and just do flashy things, there you go. Right now, this guys is known as a strophes. This is an old classic sort of design but strophes are been around for years and probably will be around for a lot more. What does it do?
You turn it on, turn it off, you actually strophe the light but if you could do that really or blow in the entire circuitry of your hands for what happens, if you can switch knowing if there is a dial in the back and you can increase or decrease the strophe to flashing 10 or 20 times a second. So, if you ever been known on a night club and all of a sudden you have notice that the light is very intense, white light is coming on and off. That, more likely is a strophe. Now then, another light and one of my old time classics here, is this thing.
Now, this is a projector, these are from optic kinetics. Now, this unit by itself does nothing except shed white light. Through there I will get the lens on here at the moment. Now, this is one of my favorite all time light, because you can do so much for these things. What you need is, you need one of this which is a basic wheel rotator. You will put that into the actual unit, if I could just put the camera down a little bit so you can have a better look. Here we go, that will sit inside there like so, you plug in there. But this is a beauty by it, right and again do not forget our other videos are probably going to slightly more depth in toward this lights.
Have you ever seen these guys? This are enough oil wheels, this originated I think it was late 60’s but more likely in the 70’s and these are the sort of things, if you ever seen a wall and all a sudden, you got like this watery effect on the wall. It is continuing moving colors, there is a lot of motion there than by this guys, it is called an oil wheel. What you have there is three plates of glass, it is quite a good effect there. So, that is the oil wheel.
What else do we got here? Is these thing here, which is a basic box standard color changer. What we do? Open it up and there is a smaller lens there, turn it on and all what we do is just give it a nice warm color and it will change from red to green, orange, purple. Now, very particular as well, how do we get the lights from this guys? Two ways, well, it is actually got a lot ways but in some lights you have what you known as a discharge bulb. Now, discharge bulb is basically an ark. Now, what is an ark?
If you can imagine, let us say your lightning or ascending the lightning, shoots of lightning, that is almost the equivalent of the actual light you will get from what you known as a discharge bulb. If you can imagine, you have got two pieces of metal, in between those pieces of metal, you will have an arc same to light. Now, that will be very bright and intense. That is known as a discharge bulb.
Then, the other types of bulbs you have, namely is something like this is know as a bulb. Now what that is, is exactly the same as a light bulb but it is a lot smaller and a lot brighter and there is a little filament that lights up. The actual bulbs are not as good as discharge bulbs because they do not last as long whereas the actual discharge bulb, what happens? You get a much better, clearer, concise such a bright white light which is what we want.
I do walk for a little bit but again, I mean, we are dealing with a whole completely new aspect here but I hope this has been a little bit but insight, I will do more in the future. Thank you for watching. Practice and enjoy.
