All right folks, this is the third video and a selection of videos, a section should say videos looking at DJ mixer. Now bearing your mind, this is for the total of the beginner.
In first video, we look on the level controls on the cross site. And the second video we look at it and high the EQ or basement in trouble. In this video we are going to be looking at the game controls and there situated at the top of each individual channel, you can see them there.
Now there is miss conception that the game controls there to turn the music up. They are not, the volume controls of a levels of the dials use to turn the actual music up. The game controls for therefore one specific reason and that is to set in the input signal from any source at the constant. What I mean by that is simply this, for example let us say from a scale of 1 to 10. A CD player, the input signal come in to this mixer would save it number six. Let us say a 12 inch single on a turn table would be at number seven. Let us say in album on a turn table will be at number four. Let us say a DVD player will be at number five.
Now then, with using the game controls we can set the levels up and down to get all your dear signal input at the constant. So instead of levels being 4, 5, 6, 7, we can set the game controls to get everything at 7, 8, 3, 4, 2 depending on the mixer.
Now then, what will I do, I will show exactly what I mean. I am going to set the games to 0. So even now, I am going to turn this channel on here and on this side we have got a 12 inch single. And on this side here, we got an album. Now you will see exactly what I mean and this is the reason we have game controls and if you work, if you use the game controls like this then you are using them correctly.
Now then if you notice here there is not signal at all. We will set across fade in the middle. Now then, on my left hand side, I have the 12 inch single. If you notice the LED as I increase the game control, we got signal. Put it all the way up and it fall on, but we do not want to do that.
Now then, likewise with the album to find increase the volume of the game control, we have a signal. Now then, to show the difference and to show the reason for the game control, if I now assuming and put both game controls let us just after 9:00, say half pass 9. So both game controls are the same.
Now if we zoom down now to the LEDs, you will notice that the 12 inch single has a high input signal that the album. Now like I said, the reason for the game controls is to set the level come in to the mixer at a constant. So really, well if we go back to the numbers, this maybe at number seven and this is at number five. But we want this one to be at number seven likewise here. So what will I have to do is I will have to go through the game controls and move him slightly more enabling the LED or making sure that the LED gets through about 0 DB or just about plus 1. We want to starting to push into the next color. So we will move the game control up like so and we watch.
Now as you can see that it is flushing green yellow and it just tacking in the red and now that is fine. That is okay.
Now then, if you notice there on the game controls, you can see that game control for the 12 inch single is roughly at about 10:00. Where as the other one is just a tiny bit lower, but the actual signal here coming in is very much lower. So we need to increase the game control to let it match the 12 inch single. So we will sweep over to it so we can see both.
Now I am going to increase the game control until the level on the LED matches the 12 inch single about there.
Now then, if we look now the game controls you can see that the game control for the album is nearly 12:00. But the game control for that is about 10:00. Basically this is exactly what the games are for. Now the levels set perfectly so now I know if I have the volume here, that number seven on the 12 inch single and the volume here number seven on the album, the volume output into the speakers will be exactly the same.
Let us say very quickly if you can see the level there is at 10 and the level there at 12, if I move that again back to the same position was the album maybe tiny bit higher there we can see the level is completely different. So if I was to keep it like that, I would have to increase this volume and decrease this volume which is repaying when you are in the mix because the whole light of these levels is that you know if the one side is at number 10 or number 9 or 8, the volume coming out of the speak is will be exactly the same as your other channel.
