AMERICANA FROM SIDE MOUNT
Alright we are going to work on some way to submit your opponent from side mount, alright. We have found our side mount, we have got our good days, we know a couple of ways to avoid a pull and guard by walking the north-south or pushing over the mouth. There are a lot of submissions that you can get from side mount. So we are going to work from our base, and we are going to work to the same submissions that we worked for mount, but the set up is a little bit different.
Alright, we are here, we have got a good side mount going, alright, I have got all of my weight down on him, I have got my legs back or up. However, you will feel comfortable inside out and you are going to be moving a lot, but he is here. And a lot of people like to bug the neck, so that I can push back on the neck. What we are going to do is we are going to set up the Americana from that.
From here, I am going to take this, and I am going to push it straight to the ground. I like to use my head and really push it, and catch with my other hand. If you need to, you can switch your hips over and attack it just like you did from mount. Put the elbow down next to the head, come up in a good base, this arm under, grabs my wrists, remember no thumbs, grabs my wrists. I take it down to the hips and then up. I get my tap, right.
So if he is bugging the neck, I can use both hands if I wanted, and he is one I a here; I push it straight to the ground up to his wrist, reach under, grab my wrist, down to his hips, lift; really, really tight shoulder lock; be really careful when you are training this one, right.
So if he is naive (ph), he has got to look around here, whatever. I like to change my grip over and throw his arm around my head, so if he is holding on, I will be right here and I will move it, catch it, grab it, right there.
This is key, I have got to have this elbow right here on his head, move it down to his hips and then lift. I do not lift him up here, because there is no pressure. You might get a tap eventually, but this isn't nearly as strong as if we pull it down here. Now we lift, we get a tap really quickly.
This is Americana from the side mount.
