The next escape that we are going work from the mouth, is called the knee to elbow escape, and you will here I say that a lot as well throughout the entire series. Knee to elbow, is anytime that you are on your back, on the ground, and your opponent is trying to advance his position, you always want to place your knee your elbow because that makes one solid unit that creates space between your body and your opponent's body, okay; so it's called a knee to elbow escape. We are going to show this angle further.
Your opponent is in guard, what I want to do is I want to use the tip of my elbow to the inside of his thigh. When I do that, I am just going to wedge it down in there and I am going to push it out to create space. I am going to get my leg down in there and I am going to push forward and out, okay. That's going to create some space and this leg is flat; flat on the ground. I am going to push it out and bring my knee up in that space, here, so that I am bringing my knee inside his leg. When I do that I am going to turn off my back the other way and shrimp out, using my elbow to the exact things then.
Now I can come to guard, alright; one more time, the other side. Right, here I use this elbow, so the point of my elbow goes into his thigh, right here. I push, I get some space, I am going to push out, my knee comes up, right now my leg is flat, it comes up through the middle. When I do that, I just change my hips and do the exact same thing to the other side, here, come up into a guard, alright.
Another angle; attacking with this arm, I create some space right here; notice that this leg is flat, this is because I want as little motion as possible when I create space which comes right up underneath. So I create space, pull that knee right under there, alright; now I just twist my body and the same thing on the other side. Elbow in, push that out, now I come in, I can go all the way and establish a full guard or I can stay in a butterfly or open mode.
The same angle move the other way; here, this arm comes in and I want to create space, this leg is flat. I am going to create space, bring that knee up, all the way under. As soon as I do that, this arm, the same thing other slide. All the way over I get a full mount, or I can stay in a butterfly guard, it is all about how I want to do it, I have got a full guard or over guard, okay.
Our opponent here, this elbow is straight down, I create space, I just want to get flat; create space, bring the knee up, here, the same thing the other side, I twist my body go here, I have got a full guard, alright.
It is the same angle, different direction, starting with this arm, this leg is flat, so here bring that knee up, now I have got a good guard, the same thing, the other direction, here. I come into my guard. That is your knee to elbow escape in now position. You are going to use that and set up a lot of other different other positions and submissions.
