Now we are going to work on, how to setup the Nearside Armbar from Side Mount and the nearest side, would be the side that is closest to my hips. Case of a gunner we are side in control. We are here, nearest side being this arm is near to me. Couple of different ways to attack both arms, we are going to go to the nearest Armbar, right now. Our plan is probably going to be trying to create space by pushing this elbow in, we talked about, how we can grab the Bicep and we can switch to Scarf hold. There is couple of Armbars from the Scarf hold, that we can go over, but we are going to work on, how to get it out of the Side now, okay.
So I have got good side control going here. As my opponent is trying to create space, I want to put my arm, on the back of that elbow, much the same way that I was doing it for, well lift to switch to Scarf hold. I am trying to going to grab right there in exact same way through the Armbar, this arm -- I like to trap this arm down with it. So that he feels like, I am threatening this arm and I use that to push up. When I push up, my shin goes right across his ribs, with my knee kind of over his body. Alright, that's going to help with the control factor.
So we are here, I lock this arm, I am just holding this from backyard, I don't want to cut, I don't want really want to threaten this for too much, I don't want to think too much about it. While I am here I am going to sit up, put my shin across his ribs, my other legs goes over here. Now as my other legs goes over, I sit back with the arm, I have got the Armbar, okay, knees pinched, keep his head enclosed, no space thumb is up, I just raise my raise hips, alright one more time. We are here, I switch my grip, here grabbing on to the back of his tricep, all in one motion, I sit up and post right there, I just give this all a little pull, sit over. Back into the Armbar, raise my hips. One way that you will to find, to get this a lot, is from the Americana and we will show that variation in just a second, but we want to show this from a couple of different angles.
So, there you can see, how we are attacking your opponent. We want to make sure, when we here, we want to make sure we have good control, because if we go sit up without the Arm, we are going to loose the position. Alright, so make sure you got this good grip, I am going to show it from a different angle now. Around here, the way I switch to Scarf hold is by grabbing it and switch it, just grabbing back to tricep. Well I am going to do the same thing, I am here, I got a good Side Mount going, I switch my grip on the left side and I grab this, this tricep right here. As I push up, this knee comes in, notice my left leg, it's going from here, as I push up, it goes right here. Pull the Armlock, this leg goes around, I sit back into the Armbar. One more time, we are here, reach in, I grab, switch my grip on the other side, post, back in to the Armbar.
Now the variation that you will get the Scarf hold is of the Americana and the way that it will set that up is, while working for the Americana, here, your opponent will feel the Americana coming in, he will reach through to protect his arm. When he does that, he has already done most of the work for us. I like to cross-face him, it's above than that and it helps me to maintain control, it's personal preference. What I want to do from here, is post up, knee comes across, exact same way, knee comes across. I am going from the Americana to the Armbar.
So I will attack this arm now, I attack this side. So with little more realistic speed, you can see what it looks like, I am inside control going to the Americana, he protects, I go up I have got the Armbar, Let's see that from a different angle, I am attacking through the Americana, he reaches up, you go through and jump straight into the Armbar, At your basic near side Armbar from the Side Mount position we used for setups, practice it carefully and with your training partner, make sure to attack in early.
