SINGLE ARM SNAP-DOWN
This next takedown that we are going to work on is called a Single Arm Snap-Down. We are here, we are working for our control, another arm clinch.
I am going to take my arm, and I am going to hook it deep, above the elbow; I am not below the elbow down here, I am above the elbow. My radius is going down right on the other side of his triceps, and the snap down part comes from right here. When I grab this, I am going to reach down and touch the ground, because that forces my opponent to come down with me.
So if I am here, when I snap down, now I grab over the head. I am just using this arm to force him down.
Now I go over the head. Once I go over the head, I am going to take my arm, go up under here. We have done the sweep in guard, it's the same concept. From here, I am going to step back with this leg, and I am going to punch this way. I am going to throw my punch over his back and straight at the floor, like this. Over and down, and we are in side mount. So little quicker, from this side. We are here. I use the arm, I get the snap down.
Now, I am basically standing with the arm in. I hook under, on far side of the arm, I am going to punch over and down, over and down.
When you are training this one, be really careful, let your opponent's head come out behind your arm, when you are coming down, otherwise you are going to land in a cervical lock, and it really puts a lot of pressure on the back of the neck. So be real careful training this one.
But from this angle, so you can see it. We're here. I set in deep over the arm, and all leg down. As soon as he touches the ground, I come right back up, under here. As I do that, I am punching over and down, and moving this leg away from him. Down.
Coming down into this side now. Last angle. We are here, in, down.
Now, up and over.
That's your Single Arm Snap-Down from a couple of different angles.
