Proper technique is critical in the power clean.
The athlete steps up to the bar so the bar is over the midfoot and then squat down, keeping the back straight. The back must be locked and the head up. The athlete will slowly lift the bar, when it get above the knees, he will jump driving the bar up to the shoulders and catching it with the elbows pointing forward.
This lift is an explosive lift done not only for strength but also for speed.
In the power clean, it is important to catch the bar with a slight flex in the knees but not completely dropping underneath the bar.
