If you don't have a lawn yet, and you're just getting started, spray it for couch grass before you lay down your lawn. If your weed killer doesn't work, your last resort is poison. Now, when you poison your couch grass it will also kill your normal grass. So make sure that you tried your weed killer, just in case.
