One method of hand feeding baby birds. (by request)
This video is for those of you who find yourself in the position that requires you to hand feed a un-weaned baby bird.
Supplies (you will need.)
1. Clean surface
2. Clean dry towel
3. Proper size syringe
4. Bird feeding formula
5. Thermometer
6. Warm water
There are a few concerns you want to consider before you take on hand feeding.

Sean Satzman: The size of the syringe that you are going to need, is going to depend on the breed of your bird. You are going to need to do a little bit of research in this area. This thermometer is designed for optimum temperature of your formula, so that you don't either burn the crop or that the formula isn't too cold. So that it doesn't stand the crop and not digest and sour, before you give the bird its next feeding. If the formula isn't warm enough that won't digest, it actually staying in the crop and that can cause a bacterial infection. If the formula is too hot, it will burn the crop. To days later the burner get worse and that can cause a hole, and the formula will leak out and the bird can start --
You want to make sure that the food is of the proper feeding temperature, which you can put easily to with a Google search online for your type of bird. As you can see Tina faces the bird to her right and she brings the syringe out from the outside, feeding the formula into the right side of it. Allow the bird to drop it out if it's not hungry. If it's not hungry, it's probably weaning some, and you need to stop that one feeding, so don't force the bird to not make a mess, just go ahead and let it fall out of the beak and allow the bird out.
So it's important to know that the left side of the beak is the bird's airway. We don't want to force eating them because within 15 seconds or so, the bird will die and there won't be anything you can do about it, it's a very emotional situation.
It's head is bobbing like this, that's the natural way that they normally feed from the parent, because the parent usually comes up and drops it down into their beak. So that's what they do when they are hungry.
