Eric Everyone, we are at my sister’s house and this is Sam who was a one-track mind which is…come here, where you where you go? c’mon, anyway we are at my sister’s house and we are going to replace a mirror in her bath she has a bunch of work done here which I did not do, thankfully.
But, we are going to replace the mirror so I want to show you how to do this were kind of inventing this house as we go along which is not unusual. So, we are going to do a couple safety things and we are going to take this off, I have never done this before as you know unusual, so let us see what happens, right? Right Oh, I do not feel I am very good.
By the way, my sister took me to a lunch at Spencer’s Grill and we had very good, really great classic old time kind of diner kind of place. This is this big mirror that does not quite line up with the new sink. It is off by 6 inches or so. So we are going to pull this thing off, but the mirror has been glued to the wall and that could be a problem.
So basically what we need to do is we need to pry this off to wall, but if we pry it we are going to shatter these thing. So my dad was over here earlier and he had a really good idea. He suggested that we cover the whole mirror with contact paper you know that shelf kind of paper it has got sticky paper or this way. We will put contact paper over the whole mirror. We pry the mirror off, it will shatter but its not go all over the place, so.
Tracy: Who glued the mirror at the wall?
Eric: Yeah, who glued this mirror to the wall?
[Laughs]
Are you watching, who ever glued? You know I was suggesting never gluing, you can use this—it has this very loci brackets which we are going to use. It is a lot easier to take pin back off again. Big hint were going to do the test.
[Laughs]
Hmm, alright, so couple of thins, safety glasses, gloves tarp, all right, we will get ready and let us start doing this. Okay.
Tracy: In a new sink.
[Laughs]
Eric: Sorry Tracy. Sorry Tracy with your new sink.
So some safety glasses, gloves I do not know what is going to happen here, so if you have any ideas will you just send me a text message right now.
Oh I need a hammer.
Tracy: Yeah.
Eric: Oh that broke, but sees how it broke, but because we have this…what this stuff called?
Tracy: Contact paper
Man: Contact paper on there it is not going all over the place.
[Laughs]
That is quite a noise. By the way I forgot to say another important tool is when you have Erick come over, you have to buy him sugar.
[Laughs]
Do not leave the food under the mirror so you do not have a glass in your room. Okay. No so I will bang it away on this thing. What I do is, I got a big piece in this loose, as I cut—I cut that and that comes out like that. Let us see what happen. Wow! So, just cut that. Wow! Look at that big hole.
Tracy: What is that? Who is there?
There is a dog in the mirror eating a bone too. Then back now remember what I did behind the mirror.
Man: Oh is there some dark secret over here Tracy?
Tracy: [Laughs] Oh my god!
Eric: What?
Tracy: There use to be a Madison chest, so is there enormous, enormous hole.
Man: Oh.
Tracy: So I scan in it to my force and put it a sort of piece of dry wall there, so there would be even more of a gluing surface available for the mirror.
Man: So you put this mirror?
Tracy: Yes, it is true I put the mirror
Man: Oh geese, why you did you not use the brackets?
Tracy: The first mirror fell off the wall at 3 in the morning. So, this mirror, I guess—[Laughs]
Man: In fine do it yourself traditional liquid nails comes out. [Voice overlap] Tracy is turning red right now. So it is nice to know that my sister is the one who is responsible for this. Now, if it would really be Tracy if the glue gloves were all lined up and measure in exact.
[Laughs]
Man: She is turning even more red, right now, we will break here. What we needed to do, is find out where the stuff that in the wall and luckily there is used to be some outlooks here and I can see in here and there is a stuff, right about here. So we are going to put on little hangers, because we are going to hang this mirror rather than glue this next mirror.
It will go right up and this will all be just a memory except to be on internet.
Tracy: Thanks Eric.
Eric: And tens of thousands of people seeing this. Pretty well, my sister’s bathroom, so those you that have a thing for my sister and your seem to be a lot out there. Stay away from my sister.
Take this off. Okay, now the tough rockets the beauty of this is that this a little rig, we are going to mount this into the wall and then these slide down like that and so it all slide down all over the lip will go over the glass and hold it up.
Tracy: So, when you click them down, they sort of walk into the mirror.
Eric: Exactly.
[Music Playing]
We take a look it could be thing and we put it in just so it is sitting at the top. Like that.
Tracy: And, it would fall off at 3 in the morning?
Eric: Okay, so this is about where we want it, so now because we have this little bracket things in there we will just reach up here and lock it in, so there you go. You know use the long bearings, so they have to be into studs. The ones up here you could put with Moly’s, some sort of a Moly Gismo.
Tracy: Okay.
Eric: it is a smaller mirror; you know you can use those little umbrellas type of a volts and things something like that. Just be careful this is a big mirror. Do not glue this kind of mirror.
Sam: All right, so there you go. Another garden fork fun episode of Eric and Tracy. You know it is a simple, simple thing to do just remember wear safety equipment when you are taking the old mirror off because someone used glue. But, you know it sometimes you can do just make sure you know where the studs are, because the load bearing brackets have to be somewhere that they can screw into and you are set you know. Tell me what you think. Have you done some like this, if you have done a project like this you can make a video of. I would like to see that. Come to the green house it our viewer forum Green-house. TV and tell me what you think Alright. It will be fun to see there Tracy is there she put some recipes up; she is a big baker lady.
Tracy: And if the mirror falls off the wall? I will post it on the green-house.
Sam: Yes she will tell us about the progress of the mirror, so watch this.
Sam: Ready…yeah.
Tracy: Good job Sam.
Sam: All right we will see you later, make it a great day.
