Hey, this is Justin from WEKNOWIT Productions. And today, I’m going to show you how to create a light saber effect in the Sony Vegas. So go to File, Import, Media, pick your light saber video, you drag it down. I’m just going to make it real short for the sake of the video. Now, go to Media generator, go to solid color, pick the color you want. First, creativity you track. Pick a color you want, put it above the video, put it above where you want the light saber to be, right click, Video Event Pan and Crop, you want to check mask and click the Anchor creation tool, you want to select four points, just any four points to and you’ll see it will show up on the video. And select this little tool, make sure enable snapping is off and so line up your colored whether it was square or whatever with your light saber. And just widen it up with your light saber—sorry if missing a lot it’s because of the video recorder.
Alright, and then just move every frame by frame—sorry it pause here for a little—and look for where you moved it, and just follow it. Now, I’m going to skip this part of me doing it so the video will not be so long but this is basically what you have to do. Make sure you get it or else you’ll have to redo it. So once you’re done with the rotoscoping as you can see right here, make sure check all parts. Make sure it’s right, you want to go right click and hit copy, copy the color you picked, go to the top paste, see create new copy. Now, go to Generated Media and click that little--pick color from screen tool and make sure it’s white, so there you go you have a white light saber and this is what you’re going to use for your core. So if you’re done with to the color you picked, go to Event FX and Sony Gaussian Blur. And you want to make it about over a 100—I’ll put like a 167, make sure it’s the same so it won’t look bad. Do the same for the white but make sure it’s like under 20 and yet a little white—nice white core.
Go back down to the color you picked, go to Event FX and just go over here and click, Sony Glow, click add and then okay. And then you want it—this is the part where you want mess around and make the color is the same as your light saber with the color you picked, and you’ll get like a glow around the core. And go to the white, choose the glow, and make sure the white—the color is actually white. And just to make sure—you just make sure this white and scroll down a little underneath the core. And if it looks too light for you, go to the intensity of your color, just make it bigger, you can change the glow percent and there you go. Suppression that just makes it just takes it back or whatever. And you can just mess around with all these and I like it. Pretty much like that, move it around and that’s your light saber.
