Lee Hayward: Hello! Lee Hayward here, and I am going to show you how you can have some high protein ice cream. High protein, low fat; actually it's even low carb, and it tastes pretty darn good, so I am going to show you exactly how you can make this. Have a nice little summertime treat, without even cheating on your diet.
Start off, I am going to put 1 cup of egg whites in the blender. These are pasteurized egg whites. Measure up. 1 cup exactly. Now, pasteurized egg whites are totally safe. What pasteurized means is that its been heated up hot enough to kill any bacteria, but it's not hot enough to actually solidify the egg whites.
Now I am going to add in some frozen strawberries. Frozen strawberries. I am going to add a banana in with this. If you were on a low carb diet, you could even get away with just having the frozen strawberries and the egg whites and the protein and the rest of what I am going to put in here. Strawberries are really low in carbs actually; there is only probably a gram of carbohydrate per strawberry. So you can put in a dozen strawberries and know you are getting like 12 grams of carbs.
So stick a banana in there. So this will be a strawberry banana flavored ice cream. I guess it's more like frozen yogurt than ice cream, but still tastes pretty darn good.
Then add in some whey protein. This is the vanilla flavored whey.
You can also add in a little bit of Splenda, to make it a little sweeter. If you have a little sweet tooth, so this helps satisfy it. Just shake in, probably about 2 tablespoons, maybe a little more. After all it's Splenda, who cares.
Right there. Let's put a lid on the blender and mix this up. One thing you will find you will have to do is stop and stir it up occasionally, because it works really thick, the frozen berries and stuff, and you want it to be like a frozen yogurt, you will have to stop and just stir it up and then restart it again.
Alright! Let's pour this up. This really is thick and tasty. It's just like strawberry banana frozen yogurt. There is plenty in here, enough for a couple of servings.
