Tawra Kellam: Hi, this is Tawra Kellam with LivingOnADime.com. Today I would like to bring you one of our most requested recipes from our cookbook, 'Dining On A Dime' and it's Snow ice cream. It's a very simple recipe that you can do with your kids on a beautiful wintery day like it is here in Kansas today. All you need is a few simple ingredients. You need half and half or milk, sugar, vanilla and of course, snow.
You mix your milk with your sugar and vanilla and stir it thoroughly until the sugar is dissolved. Then you need two cereal bowls full of clean snow. We set our bowl outside as soon as it started snowing to start collecting the snow for the snow ice cream.
Of course, if you didn't think ahead to do that you can just go and find any clean spot and just scoop the snow off the top. Be sure you don't get any rocks or where any chemicals have been applied, then after you have your snow in a mixing bowl, then you want to pour your half and half or your milk mixture over your snow just like so.
Then you want to thoroughly mix all of the milk in with the snow. Just keep mixing, you'll think there is not enough milk, but there really is. It starts getting to be a crumbly consistency and after you have mixed for few minutes, you have the consistency of soft ice cream, just like homemade ice cream.
Put it in your serving bowls. Then you can add your favorite topping like chocolate syrup or sprinkles and enjoy. For more of our recipes and tips please visit our website LivingOnADime.com.
