Hi, I am Sandy with A Floral and today we are going to learn how to make corsage bows. I have a chiffon ribbon, number three and you need about a yard and half it depends on how big you make your loops. And, what we are going to do is remember that we always keep the ribbon on the same hand. We are going to make are largest loops first. And since we are making a corsage, they do not need to be that big. We are going to scrunch them in between our finger and our thumb and bring the ribbon up. Each loop that we make will be opposite the one we made before, one, and two. Now, we have to give the ribbon a half a twist, so that the same side of the ribbon is out. Not so important with this chiffon, but with the print ribbon that is plain on one side it will be very important.
Now, when I make a half a twist I have to twist it over this way, because we need this loop to be opposite this one that we have just made. So, half of twist and bring that loop up. Another half a twist, now we have three loops on the top and we need three loops down here. So, I am going to twist it over this way and bring this loop up. Now, we have six large loops and we need four small ones to go in between the large loops. I already made the half a twist, now I am scrunching it in, half a twist, bring it up scrunch it right in between that thumb and index finger. Half a twist, another loop, hinge it in there, half a twist, make a loop. Now, we have 10 loops, five on each side. I am going to change hands so that I can get a number 26 gauge wire and wrap it right around the center, pulls those wires to the back and twist that as tightly as you can. The tighter you twist it the safer your loops are going to be.
Trim off any extra wires that you have and look at that, a beautiful corsage bow. Let us try it again, this time you can try it with me, this time I have a chiffon ribbon with the satin on the edge and we are going to do the same thing. Scrunch it in between your thumb and index finger. Do not hang on too tight or you will get a cream. Make your loop, scrunch it in. Bring that ribbon up; scrunch it in, half a twist. You will notice each loop I make inserts here goes off this way on the bottom, starting here and goes this opposite way, so we end up with a circle. Turn it over, I give a half a twist, bring it up, half a twist, another loop. These should all be the same size, half a twist, bring it over.
Now, that I have my six large loops we need to make the four small ones and I did that twist and the scrunch at the same time and you will be able to do that to. But, half a twist these loops will go in-between the larger loops and there just a little bit smaller that makes your bow of really full. Half a twist, bring it up, half a twist another loop and our last loop make a half a twist and bring that up and now you are hanging on to all that ribbon with one hand. This is the only time you are allowed to switch hands. That is to get a little piece of wire, I am using 26 gauges you can use 24 if you have that around, bring that wire to the back and twist that as tightly as you can. And, we will cut off the extra and look at that, another corsage bow. Good luck.
