How To Make a Mint Julep
Today, I’m going to teach you how to make a perfect mint julep. Now juleps have been made for centuries. Now mint julep, you may have heard from the Kentucky Derby, very popular, they’ve been making nuts since the 1800’s. Nowadays, eighty thousand mint juleps are made in the weekend. Now, you may think, mint juleps sounds like kind of a really mild drink? I tell you, this drink kicks like a Kentucky Derby winner, so be careful with it.
Now, what we want to do. Start off with a Collins glass and take four sprigs of mint. Four, very important, there you go. Add about a teaspoon of sugar, this is kind of fine sugar. There you go, a rising sugar is fine, about to tablespoons of water. I’d like adding a little bit more ‘coz it’s such a strong drink. But that’s about good for now.
A muddler, very strong thing, this is used to crush and to mix. Careful with it, ‘coz it’s a natural glass. Glass, you don’t want to break that. You want to mix it up and it expands the taste of the mint. So there you go, now grab some crushed ice or, there you go. Now, I’ve already done that a little bit. So, shaved ice already works good. That was the word I was looking for. There we go. Having some fun with ice, there you go.
Now you want to start with you’re Kentucky Derby. There you go, you’ve got your Bourbon, an ounce and a half, there you go, garnish with your mint sprig of course, and a straw, and now you have your perfect mint julep.
Remember; don’t be mixing this with driving. So, the only thing that doesn’t mix well with driving and alcohol is driving. Have a good night. See you next time.
