Ashley: 25 girls are wearing the wrong bra size. Hi! Welcome to WatchMojo.com. I'm your host Ashley, and today we're going to show you how to measure your bust and also show you different bras for special occasions. So when should someone first get sized for a bra?
Andrea Kostiuk: It really depends on the individuals and some girls develop faster than others, so there is no official age that you should get a bra fitting. There are a lot of factors that can influence your bra size, weight gain, weight loss. Also, after pregnancy, you could be a different bra size. We can go through every point in more detail to find out exactly what we're looking for.
A proper bra fitting takes two measurements to get a general size that you can work with. So the first measurement that you want to take is just under the bust. You want to make sure that the take sits nice and snug against the bust. The number that you get here, which is 27, you want to add five inches to that, whichever number you get, you add five inches.
So in this case, that brings us to a 32. That's going to be the bra band size that she's going to wear. The second measurement that you want to take is around the largest part of the bust. The number that you get here, which we have a 34, is two inches larger than the bra band size. For each additional inch, you add a cup size. So that would bring us to a cup size of B. So her bra size would be a 32-B.
After you find your general bra size from the bra fitting, it's important to do a five-point bra test. The first point that you want to look for is the bra band. You should make sure that it sits just below your shoulder blades in the back, and you should also be able to run one finger along the bra band easily, if there are red imprints, that means the bra band is too tight, and you have to adjust it with the bra clip in the back.
The second point is the bra strap. Again, you want to make sure that you can run one finger easily along the strap, and again, if there are red imprints, that means the straps are too tight, and you have to adjust it in the back. The third point is the center gore. You want to make sure that this lies flat against your skin. If it fits away from your body, that means that the cuts are too small. If it starts digging in, that means that the cuts are too large.
The next point is the actual bra cut. You want to make sure that the breast sits comfortably inside of the cup, and to make sure that there isn't any spillage from the cut. The final point is the actual projection. You want to make sure, when you look at the side that it sits at a 90 degree angle from the ground.
