Alright folks, common people have asked me, where are the best place to slow record down while you are in the mix? Now this particular idea of this particular question can and it is very alarm or intro cut(ph). I am not going to break it down so it is very easy, so, anyone can understand it.
Now, very quickly, you are halfway through a set, you played 5, 6 records, and all of as sudden the record you just put on is too fast for the one you want to bring in. So, you need to slow that record down, enabling you twain in the other one.
Or, the opposite does supply. Maybe, the record is too slow and you need to increase the speed, enabling you to bring the next one in. Where is the best place to do it? Okay, I do not recommend you do it in the vocals or where there is lots of instruments for these lots of melody. The best place to do it is in the instrumental break. Now, again, this is a alarm or intro cut(ph). If you are just starting out, I recommend high recommend; you only do this particular thing in the instrumental break.
Simply because if you start doing it where the vocals are concerned, you are going to get a key change. It is going to (demo) or (demo).
It is going to start sliding a bit dodgy and if you do not do it correctly, it will sound terrible. The instrumental break is the best place. I will show you why. Because there is not many vocal or there is no vocals for start, there is very little melody if anything, so what you have got is percussion and all you are doing is you are decreasing the speed of the percussion. Which is the best way of doing it for the beginners, so, I will show you.
The first time, I will do it very slowly, the second time, I will do it fast and there is not much difference between the two. The slow, when I do it very slowly, it is almost like it is, this is like progression. When I did it very fast, it is a noticeable, it is almost like instant 10 years and you do not know it happened. So, this is the slow version first (demo)
Okay, that was the slow version. Right now, I am going to do the faster version, do it very quickly, okay, here we go (demo), okay, so they are going (demo)
Now then, again, what I recommend is this. I know you might do it there but if you are going to do the fast version, try and do where the bars are concerned or the phrases, that particular timing because it just sounds a bit better. I will show you (demo)
Okay, now again, like I said, this the very, we are scraping the surface here but this is the initial video in showing you the best place whereby you can slow record down or you can speed a record up in the mix. Any comments, put them underneath but do not forget, if you start slowing and speeding down with vocals and the melody of where you got vocals or melody then you are into key changing all sorts. It is a lot more difficult to do it there okay? Practice and enjoy, thank you for watching.
