All right, guys, a couple of videos ago, we looked at the DJ 800 mixer and something called the roll feature.
Basically, it samples music. It can sample it in a 16th and 8th, a quarter, 1/1. It can sample two beats, four beats, 16 and I am pretty sure 32 as well. What I did I explained by pressing the button here on the base beat. We will sample the base beat as a whole.
It will start off at the base beat but if we press that button on the high beat, it will start off at the high beat. It is near enough, exactly the same but there is a subtle difference so I will show you that first of all. Here we go. The track we are listening to is Barbara Tucker. It is a track entitled stay together and it is known as the bubble beats.

What we will do is take 1/1, I am going to hit that on the bass beat and have a listen.
[music playing]
How hit it on the high beat.

What we can also do in this video, what we have got is these two buttons here. In the middle, we have got something called beat. By pressing the button to the right, we can actually take that sample from just one beat to two beats to four beats to eight and to 16, I am pretty sure and then we can also reduce that to half, a quarter, eighth and a 16th, so by messing around with these buttons, and pressing them at the right time, we can do some cool effects.
I may make a few mistakes here but the whole idea and the whole emphasis of this video is to show you what you can do when you spend a little bit more time because I am really not much at the moment so what I will do, I will bring the camera a little closer because ideally we need to look at this area here. So if I just wind it about, there, that should do. If I move back a little bit because you want to see the buttony bit as well.
We will play the music and we will have a bit of messing around.

Here we go.

All right pause it. The only thing I will say and again it is about practice. I have not searched this out perfectly yet but if you are going to start doing to half beats and quarter beats, you are actually going to have to hit that button before the beat comes in to get it in time. I suppose the easiest way of explaining it is if you go above the one beat, in other words, you go from one and you hit the right hand button and then you go let us say to two beats, you are going from one, one, one to one, two, one, two, you can actually hit the button at the right point and you will get it in beat. If you go to half beat as in wah, wah, wah and quarter, wa, wa, wa, wa, you are actually doing to have to hit that button before the beat to get it back in beat.
To a lot of people, that may sound like what the hell is it all about but hopefully to some, you will understand what I am all about and maybe in a future video, I will draw it on some dodgy piece of paper and maybe you can understand where I am coming from.
So basically this particular video is showing you that you do not just have to sample a bit of the music and have it one over one and one, one. By messing around with these guys here, you can actually just mess around with that beat and have a little bit of fun with it. I hope this has been a help and by the way, practice and enjoy.
