All right folks, Jonathan here. This is video number five in the selection I am doing on the CDJ turntable for the DJ
In this one here, we are going to be looking at the CDJ800 mark II which is this guy. There are four buttons here, and apart from a few other things, what they can do as well is during playback, while the actual track is playing, if you press one of those buttons, it will actually sample a particular part of that track, of course when you press the button, it will sample from the second you press that button and it will sample according to each one you press a certain amount.
For example, if you hit number eight, it will sample eight beats and then it will loop that eight beats so you have a loop. If you press number four, it will loop four beats. Press number two, it will loop two beats. Press number one, it will loop one beat based on the BPM of that particular track.
I will give you a sort of demonstration. I am not brilliant at this but bearing in my with a bit of practice, etc, anyone can get better at it. Okay so what we will do is we will put the actual camera a bit closer to the actual buttons and you can see exactly what I am doing. The track I am going to be using is Col. Abraham’s I am not going to let you. It has been a world classic.
[music playing]
Just press it once. There you go, that is actually small eight beats. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven eight. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven eight. One, two, three, four, . One, two, three, four. One, two, three, four. One, two, three, four. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven eight. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven eight. One, two, three, four. One, two, three, four.
We will just pause that but basically by messing around with these particular button, you can have a bit of fun and you can actually remix and reedit the track live in the mix. Do not forget. When you are at home practice having a go at this and once you perfected it, take it out on the street, take it out to clubs and at the end of the day, you basically get to remix a track in front of people’s eyes and they will probably come up to you and say like where did you get that track from, where did you get the remix from, and you can say it is mine. Nice one.
Thanks for watching and as usual, please practice and enjoy.
