Hey guys, David Risley here with DavidRisley.com and I thought I would do a quick video today.
Now, I've actually got two purposes for doing this video, one is that I'm actually doing a video for my Blog Masters Club student. And in the video that I'm working on right now is actually a behind the scenes look at exactly how I do online videos. I'm actually working on module eight right now which is all about online video.
And students of the club are going to be able to watch, they're actually watching right now to this webcam. They're going to watch the process of me actually recording the video, looking at the equipment that I'm using and then they're going to watch me edit this video and put it together, encode it and put it up on the internet. I just want to give a look at the entire process from start to finish of putting a fairly basic video up on my blog. With that, I want to also use the opportunity to just do a video for you guys with a little tip and just to pass into a video, which I thought was fitting and what it is, is the idea of when a put a video out in the internet, you want to bring a lot of views to it. Hopefully, if the video has a viral nature to it, you want to be able to take advantage of the YouTube Community in order to get them to see your video.
And in order to do that what you need to do is jumpstart your video up into the most viewed list on YouTube. In order to do that, you need to be able to bring a whole lot of views to that video within usually the first 24 to 48 hours. And when you do that, it ranks up high enough in YouTube, so where YouTube is now going to bring its own attention to it and then you're going to bring it a whole lot of new eyeballs that would have never seen your video before.
Now how might you be able to do that? Well, the concept that I teach students in a Blog Masters Club is that of a content launch. In short, I go into more detail for them and in short, the idea is that you're going to be able to go for a shock and all launch on the video because you have things geared up ahead of time to have everybody sending eyeballs to the video for you. The idea of a content launch actually comes from the product launch idea and that the product launch is basically the idea of turning your launch of a product into an event. It’s the idea of putting up pre-launched content in order to build up a lot of buzz, get a lot of people anticipate in your launch, a lot of people talking about it. And then on the actual launch day that you put it out there, it’s kind of like a shock and all, you're going to have everybody emailing for you, most likely they're going to be affiliates for you and the idea is you have a good solid pay there, that’s the idea.
Now, if we take that idea and take it into the content, well obviously, you're not selling any content so we’re not worried about the payday or anything like that. But you do want to drive a lot of views to your video, so you can get it up in the YouTube rankings really quickly. In order to do that, you apply the same basic idea of turning it into an event. You build up some anticipation using email list, using other bloggers in your market who you know, who you can say, “Hey listen, I'm getting ready to put out this video. You know, will you Tweet it for me and maybe even post it on your blog on that day?” Usually, you'll find that most bloggers will re-Tweet something for you at a drop of a hat.
Now, getting them to post it on their blog, well, they might be able to be more picky about that and that’s completely the right and more power to them. But just whatever you can do the line ups and people are to say, when you say go, I'm going to re-Tweet, I'm going to maybe send it out. If it’s a really, really good content, they might even email their list or put it on their blog.
The idea is when you hit go, all these people are going to be able to do that over the span of a day or so and you're going to be able to send a lot of views to your video right off the bat in order to raise it up into the rankings. And then at that point, once it’s raised up in those rankings on YouTube, the YouTube Community itself will take over and drive a lot traffic into the video.
So it’s a tactic. I didn’t get into a whole lot of a detail on this particular video but I wanted to pass it on to you guys and the students of the Blog Masters Club who were watching this video. We’re going to now go over the computer. I'm going to show you how to edit this video together and of course there will be more detail on doing the content launch strategy that I just talked about inside the club, so I’ll see you guys over there.
