What Jeffrey is working on is what we call the broom handle drill. The purpose of this is to make sure he gets the proper heights of his elbow. A lot of guys when a drop the elbow below shoulder level so this gives him a target to make sure they get up and over it for the baseball. You can use a broom, you can use yard stick; you can use your hand and any number of things just to give something to shoot for to make sure they get the proper height for the ball.
