Let us discuss cut off responsibilities and techniques.
This scenario where we can really help ourselves in terms of getting rid of the ball on what inevitably is a close play at third base or at home or in some cases as second base too.
We are going to work with our cut off position and situation here and I want to show you how we like to setup, making the cut off on a throw from the outfield.
Tommy is going to help me here.
The first thing that we want to make sure that we do is get ourselves positioned such that we are facing the endfielder that,
Who is throwing to us, we want him to get a good look at who is supposed to throw too. We assist ourselves by raising our hands. So, Tommy is going to raise his hands here, and now our outfielders certainly where he is supposed to throw the ball.
Tommy’s job at this point is to get himself positioned in such a fashion as to be able to catch the ball on his glove side with his two hands and get rid of it.
So, what we want Tommy to do is when the ball comes to him, if he reads it and it is a good throw, he is going to begin to turn his body this way,
(Demo)
He is going to catch the ball on the side of his body on his glove side with two hands. Catch it and now he will be ready to make the throw.
If we take the throw this way,

Catch it here,

Now, we have to turn all the way around and throw it. And again, I cannot impress upon you enough the fact that for every step you take, be sure that it get to.
Six extra feet so cut up the number of steps once you read the good throw.
If he receives the poor throw, he can move his feet either direction and still be able to make the catch and hopefully make a throw. Had to move of his feet?
Got himself set,
Very nice, very nice,
Notice how I head to shuffle to the right a little bit to be able to make that play.
There, he got a good throw,

Open his body and feeds on in.
We can even work to cut off responsibilities and techniques by ourselves if we like.
Throws come straight at us. We are going to work on turning our body. Make the catch with two hands right into our good throw.
