Believe it or not what Daryl is doing is, Daryl is working on a stretch. You got to understand this ladies and gentleman that regardless of what the ages, eventually he will get to the age where he got to work on the stretch. So, my philosophy is that is a very important transition, he is going to make going from little league to Babe Ruth. So, let us introduce it to him now and getting comfortable with the position. Danny is going to make a transition a lot easier. What I will do is tell Daryl to throw some things that we check it on. Here we go.
He is going to straddle the rubber and his position right here, he got the ball in his hand he can look around do anything he would like to do. Now, he can check first base, he can check second, he can check third. Once everybody is set position, defense is set by the coach. Now he is going to step on to the rubber, he is going to step on then he is going to step out just a little bit. Notice how he has got it above up, he is current over the top trying to look intimidating, he got the ball hid beside him. Now, I am going to catch and give the signal for the fast ball, he is going to acknowledge yes. Now, what he is going to do when he come set, he is going to come set, notice how when he comes set he brings his left leg in, his hands come together and it come to the center of his body. Notice there is slide bend in both Daryl’s knees, both of his feet are parallel that enables him to not give the runner the advantage if he is too far open, put your left foot over to the left Daryl.
Now, he has the advantage that he can see the runner better at first but the disadvantage is now and he is going to lift that leg, lift it, when he gets ready to go home, okay. Now, let us move a foot over to the right, the disadvantage here is at first we are running on third he can see that runner. However, he cannot see the runner at first, so what we prefer to do is have him come set with the feet parallel, slide bending the knees and he is in the set position. When he is in a set position what he is going to say to his self at least to himself and not moving his left as one thousand one because he got to come set for at least the full second and hold it.
He can get different looks, he can hold it longer if he like, just whatever Daryl feels comfortable for that situation. If he is going to step off if the runner starts to leave early, the team mates are going to break or step off, he is going to step off with his back through. Once, he steps off now and he is free to go to any position early back, he can fill to even on an occupied base. So okay, let us try to go through it again Daryl, here we go ready, he straddle his rubber, he has got he got his glove up, he steps on, steps out with his front foot just a little wide and shoulder width, he acknowledge he want a signal, he comes set, he is going to say one thousand and one.
Now, and it is very important in his position right here, that when he gets ready throw he is got to get the strong leg at least waist high and he is going to go. He is already in his balance position, we talked about this earlier. What we do not want to do is come up and hold it, he has got to get that leg up and then go, okay. I will say go ready, go. He gets the leg up and there he finished it. Now, I let him to do a little bit on his own here we go.

The thing that I like to stress more than anything is that let us help this young guys be for ready for a transition as they get older. He learns how to do this now, then he turns 13 he will be one of the leader that can go out and do these the way it should be done and we are worried about it. We lost too many guys because they become intimidating from pitching from the stretch. Throw one more, good job.

You must understand we got to work from the stress no matter how many times you go to a ball game, inevitably you got to have to throw from the stretch position. So every pitch you throw for the wind up, throw form a stretch. And it only also reminds me that when Timmy is in the stretch position he comes set, comes set, what we need to do is we need to have a various of time, he comes set. What he is going to say to his self is one thousand one and he is going to throw home, go.
Okay, the next time we keep the runner in check, how about he go for two seconds this time ready, comes set, one thousand one, one thousand two he throws. He is messing up the runner’s time you know with that. We do not want to get it in and become a creature habit, when we come set throw, come set throw because as soon as I come set in the crucial point of the game. As soon as I am set he is going on first moment and then we cannot do anything about it, we are basically giving them the box.
We got to interrupt his timing as well as the hitters, okay. Another thing we can do sometimes a good moving to keep them in check is just to step off. He comes set and then he just steps off for the head cover he steps off. Once he steps off we do not want to make it over because he knows we are not going anywhere.
