There are three basic ways to start the lower half of the body for the swing.

Whether you are using the stride, the kick or the tap, it should take us to a balanced position of strength and the stride needs to be short enough to provide that balance and strength but long enough to fit the hitters body type.
We generally say that the stride should be the length of a hitter’s bat.

If a stride is too long, then the hitters head dips and provides a real problem with rotation for the hitter.

Chad is using more of a straight stride approach which allows him to start a little bit later than someone who maybe using a kick approach or a tap approach.
