How To Play Baseball: Wrist Flicks Drill

Catchers love(ph) of variety of thing to do behind the play and hopefully, they are involved block and pitches and taking the beating. The wrist flip drill that we are going to demonstrate right now is a good drill that can be done everyday and has some real benefit when a catcher is throwing and that is a good portion of what a catcher does, either the back of the pitcher or the second, the third or wherever the throw needs to be made. What we want to be able to do here and what we want to catchers to really work hard on is to be able to use the wrist to allow just a little extra snap on the end of the throw and get just that extra mile or 2 per hour that is necessary and the difference between throwing someone out and not throwing someone out.

When we set this drill up, what we want Daniel to do us to take his glove, bring his glove up. Put the elbow in the glove, get a nice forcing grip on the ball and then relax. Flex the wrist and release the ball to JD with good rotation. Flip, nice flip. JD will do the same, elbow in the glove and a nice flip, head high. Good wrist flip.
