The next topic we are going to talk about is the back pick and the back cut, and normally what we try to do in this is throw the lab. If you have people that can go up and dunk and it is great, the crowd loves it, you want to play it safe and you throw the direct pass and they lay it in. When we start the back pick, we do it just like we do the direct cut. We make a pass to the wing, we go hard all the way to the rim, nothing. We make our curl and we try to set the back pick right on the foul line.
What we are trying to do is set a parameter for our people to come up, set the back pick on the foul line, and the cutter rolls and the screener comes back to the ball. If we can dunk it, we dunk it. We have the people to do it, if we cannot, we throw the direct pass.
Let us them go through a series or two. And if I see the mistake, we will stop it, if not, we will roll it. Here we go, V-cuts, good hard cut, lock him up, he is inactive, good plant, come off tight for a pass. Lab pass is the toughest to throw, we teach you to throw it to the front of the rim and let the jumper go up and get it. Now, this is a gamble. When you are on the lab and you throw it, you are gambling.
You are gambling that, certainly we had a sure bet, but I am going to tell you something, the toughest area on a basketball court to guard is the area above the rim. If you have people that can go up and do it, then it is a very, very good weapon and it is an exciting weapon to use. Let us try it again.
