Because he does not have a teammate or friend to rebound with he has placed his basketball from a shooting position. He has used a chair with some sneakers as a defender and he is going to get in the habit of practicing rebounding on his own.

He will say shot so he knows the shot is going up and he will tell himself all out box out. He will go find the defender and hit the defender or make contact and then pretend he is going after the ball up strong so you jump up after the ball as well you got it. Try that. Again, good now when you do this I want you to touch the chair so you have made contact. You feel him. You find him. Then you box.
