Okay, we feel that we have to keep total pressure on the other team at all times to be an effective basketball team. What we want to do when most team step to the foul line and the opposing team is shooting, they normally take a rest. But we want to ensure as an offensive team on the foul line that we put as much pressure on the defensive team before the ball goes in the basket and faster as we can.
So what we want to show you today are stunts that we run on the foul line. We are also going to take a step further and show you how we would get in to the one two one, one or the airplane crash for some people call it, from this particular alignment. Now the first obvious thing we are gong to see is we are going to take the biggest man we have on the floor and we are going to make him the five men.
His duty is to go as deep as the deepest player on the other team. If the fact they put all five people up here, he will stand on the top of the key. He will be our five man and he will direct traffic right here, because in reality, we do not want him across half court, we do not want him standing down there resting. If the ball catch loose, we want him to be able to be in the offensive flow or the rebounding flow as soon as possible.
What are we going to do is we are going to number this people. I am, for the sake of demonstration going to be one of the team members.
I am going to be in this case of four men, I will be the interceptor on the press, I was the man that happens to get fouled. It really would not matter whether I was up there or in any other spots. I could be the five man, shooting right here. If that was the case then our four men on the press would take his spot, okay?
What we have here are three perimeter players, it would not matter whether our little point guard is in this spot or our taller small forward was there, it really would not matter because we can run our stunts the same way. But we are backing on is simply this. In the first part of the film we talked about straighter line, meaning shots. We are banking that, we are going to make more of them but if we miss. They are going to come out to front of that rim or the heel of that rim and they are going to bounce in this area from one yard below the foul line to a half a yard above. That is were it is going to bounce. In this five to six foot stretch. So we are going to cover real hard the middle of this lane. The upper middle of this lane.
The first thing we are going o show you is free throw stunt number one. Now the obvious thing that we are going to see is we have a two people in the second spots as far away as they can get from the man on the first part. Number one, that will drive this guy crazy because he is not used to have in someone so far away. He is normally used to having someone right up here that he can push and shove on. I will show it over on this side. It would be easier.
This is your normal situation, two big guys in here and they step in and they push and shove in the back and how many fouls are called. We are going to take this man and we are going put him as far as he can away. Now, in stunt number one, my duty is to always screen this man off. But in stunt number one, his duty will be to get to the middle of that foul line with a giant step as quick as he can and cover the middle of the lane. Find that ball this mans duty, who obviously the men inside who is going to try to screen him off, is the back side into his established position and take him out. So we are actually going to establish a rebounding triangle here.
Our third man is going to come hard; you can stand any way long here. This man’s duty would be to screen him out, obviously. So on the step hard, we are going to turn, we are going to come and try to wedge inside to where we have. Base line covered, and the middle covered. That is stunt number one. Let us see how it looks.
