Today we are going to talk about the passing game or the motion game to some. I think there are a lot of advantages running the passing game there are a few disadvantages and we will speak of them as we use our drill. But basically the passing game is an offense set, allows the individual, they are all initiative to take the ball to the basket. It is a fun offense to watch but it is sometimes a difficult one to control. As a coach, you want to keep it as simple as possible but effective as possible.
We start the passing game in what we call our passing game cut drill. And we basically use three passing game cuts early. We throw in a fourth in which I will show you as the season progresses. What we will do is we have to visualize a little bit, we are going to use it on a three man drill. And we are on every day, passing game cut. We tried in our practices, never to throw drills in that we never use. This is the drill that we use everyday because we run a lot of passing game. We feel the advantage of passing game it is very difficult to sculpt, it allows our players to take advantage with there natural abilities and again as we mentioned earlier. It is something fun for the kids to watch.
We are going to start this drill and this will be a three man drill with 12 players obviously four in a line. And we are going to take you to the passing game cut. There are actually three cuts that we use in our passing game. Now, let us talk mainly about the passing game. Spacing in the passing game is very important and I think most coaches will tell you.
Never do two players ever get with in 10 feet with each other. Unless there are screening or picking. Okay and there is a difference between setting up a horizontal screening and a back pick. Or a vertical screen. There are differences, but basically what we are talking about is, spacing never roll the ball in another player be closer than 10 feet, unless there is screen on the ball.
