Now we want to do from our pressure zone defense is we want to add some traps in to create additional pressure. My personal philosophy is if we are going to trap, I prefer to trap, use the wall again on the three point line. So I do not like to trap above the three I think, that we are burning a lot of energy. What I want to do is trap in the corner.
I want to force the ball to the corners at all times. Once we get the ball away from the top, it goes to the wing, what I want to do is take away the return pass unless, the point guard is four or five feet out. Again, I do not want to burn energy, unless I am running in a half court trap, which we are not doing. We are running zones.
I do not need to burn that energy, he has got to shoot the ball before the clock goes off. We are going to force him to do that. So if he wants to receive the ball up there, we live with it. If we are on the wing and he is still uptight, I now want to encourage the pass to the corner no matter what kind of zone I am in, I am going to do this by denying a high pass to the three point line or one step over the three point line.
So if Grant’s right foot is over, I will live with that. Never should my players have both feet above the three point line. We have taken this away, we force to the corner, once the ball goes to the corner, Grant is moving on the pass, not waiting until it is received. Now, we are taking away this denial completely. Even if he goes high, Charles has to react on the ball moving
Now, if he pulls the ball back to pass, Charles has to react on the pull back. He should have a feel for which way it is going. We are going to give away an easy shot on the other end because we have four seconds, three minimum to get there. I think we can do that. Let us take a look at it live, see how it shakes up.
On the whistle, [Music playing] take your time, you are under control. Good, now, we are just going to do a little game. We are going to put blue on defense and at two three. We are going to do the same thing. We want to turn this into a competition, and what we will do, is we will go a series of five or 10 times. The team that has the most steals out of that time or that does not allow a score, is the team that wins.
And we will do that for free throws or a can of soda or whatever it is. On the whistle, all right it is one to one. Go back the other way, go back the other way, let us reverse it. [Music playing] Do not go over the three. Do not go over the three. Good. Reverse it one more time. Tips are as good as steals, because the coach on the other team is getting infuriated. His team or his players are getting upset and they are getting frustrated, we are still accomplishing what we want to. So there are a lot of benefits to this, one more time.
