Now it is time to take the skills of the quarter back and also the running back and merge them together. And you want to do a repetitions of the quarter back handing the ball off to the backs. The quarter back again will take the snap and then will take the ball, and will look the ball right in to the running back and make sure that he has it, and then the running back will take the ball away from the quarter back. The running back as he comes through, if he is coming through on the right side, you want to make sure that his elbow towards the ball is up. We call this the oven.
The oven must be open to receive the ball. If he is taking the ball on the left hand side, his right arm goes up. The ovens open to the right side as he comes through, the ball goes in. The running back takes both hands and puts it over the point of the ball, looks it in and attacks the defense.
