How To Play Football: Pitch Technique

One of the most important skills of the quarter back has to learn is the ability to pitch the ball to the running back. It is very simple, quarter back wants to take the ball receive it in good motion. If he is going to his right, he is going to open up to his left. You want to teach your quarter back, he is a gate and if he is pitching the ball to the right side, this right foot is the gate and he got to open up the gate. Quarter back takes the ball very slowly, uses this foot as a pivot foot, he opens up pivots and opens all the way up and then delivers the ball. And then follows, and leads as a blocker.

Again, going to the right, tell your quarter back he is a gate. He wants to open the gate, this foot is used as a pivot foot. We are not going to go the individual work out of the quarter back pitching the ball to the right. Again, his right leg is the post. He is opening up the gate, opens all the way up. Pitches then leads blocks. This will be a little awkward to begin with but once it gets five or six repetitions this will become very natural to the quarter back.

Takes it, pivots around. It is very important that the quarter back pivots on that toe and opens all the way up completely so he can get a good look at the receiver coming around for the pitch. A lot of times a quarter back will only go half away and that will throw off the ability to get the ball to the running back quickly.
