How To Play Soccer: Bending Pass Drill

Janine: This is a bending pass; we are going to start with the inside of our foot bending the ball around the cones. Just a repetition drill, we will do five with each foot with the inside of our foot. Beginner level is with a still ball and then again, you can progress up to off to dribble or receive it, control it, it could be on the ground or in the air. Hitting alongside of the ball, sometimes it’s called the banana pass. This pass is not practiced often enough, that's why we just like to get some repetitions in here. It’s a very effective pass. Definitely will make you a higher level player. Now we go to the outside of the foot, just striking the ball along the side. I got under that one putting it in the air a little bit, you can practice both in the air and on the ground. Well done Doug. We are also working on the receiving skills. Higher level would be receiving it, playing it forward, never backing up from the ball. Playing it forward and now, we play it. Younger kids will have the habit of backing up. Don't let yourself get in that habit. I play it forward now, the intermediate level as opposed -- Doug stepped back there, don’t step back Doug. Play the ball, forward never step away from the ball. There you go.
