Catching & Reaction Drills
One of the main fundamental types of catching that we teach all goalkeepers is to use the W catch. All that means is that when you are catching the ball in this area, or diving and trying to catch the ball, you want to have your hand in a W to make it stronger, so you can catch the ball. Using the contour of the ball, like the W, is here.
So some easy activities to get started with practicing making a strong W. Just going to bounce the ball, stationary, right in the middle, catching it with a W every time. Ready, it will come right to us. Great!
Now let's go left few times, great. Come back to the middle, go a little harder; the harder you go, the more you challenge yourself, one, one, one, one, two, two, threes fours.
