How to Preserve Autumn Leaves in Liquid Wax.
How do you preserve autumn’s fleeting colors of deep purples, rich russets and shimmering reds?
Preserve the leafs in liquid wax while they are still brilliantly colored on fall walks go leaf collecting. Gather a variety of leaf colors, sizes and categories. Bring a bag along for safe transport of your leafy treasures. Remember to get permission before collecting leaves on someone else’s property. Once home, take out supplies, assorted leaves, iron, newsprint, liquid floor wax, blow dryer, and wax paper.
Steps: sandwich leaves between sheets of newspaper with iron on medium, press leaves, pour out enough wax to cover tray or plate, dip both sides of leaf into wax, a hand held dryer can speed this up. When dry, repeat dipping process. Second coat will make leaves as smooth as your favorite pair of leather boots.
