My light assembly just quit working abruply I wondered if possibly to the circuit breaker trip in control panel " NO " the bulbs were still good tried them on a other light assmbly do vanity light assmblies just go out after real old age somewhere Im guessing 17-22 yrs old? please reply

This is great it the wiring for the old light is centered over the mirror, but mine is not centerd. How do you fix it then?

I have 2 sets of ground/black/white wires coming out of my wall. How do I wire my vanity light to this? Should I just use one set of wires and push the other set back into the wall? Thanks!

How To Replace a Vanity Light

You really do not need an electrician to do simple electrical jobs around the house as long as the wiring is already in place. Putting in a new fixture like a vanity light can be done by the most inexperience do it yourself for. For this job you will need a screw driver, wire knots and possibly a wire stripper. You new vanity light may contain most of the supplies you need so check it out before end. Begin by switching off the electricity at the breaker box and confirm that the power is indeed off and since most bathroom have very little natural light you may need to run a light off another circuit to help you see what you are doing. Remove the bulbs in globes from your old light to avoid breaking them while you work. Now, remove the face plate on the existing fixture and examine the connections. Remember the hot wire should be either red of black while the neutral will be white. A green or plain copper wire the ground. Disconnect all the wires and remove any mounted hardware. Before installing your new light it is always a smart idea to layout you parts and tools on flat surface. You can make sure it is all there and in good conditions before you begin. Different lights have different methods of mounting so check your instructions carefully. In this case it is simple cross by these screws on the junction box. Once the crossbar has been attached screw the nipple into the center hall. Connect the wires by twisting the expose ends, black to black, white to white and the two ground wires which would be either green or copper. Twist an orange wire knot onto the end of each and top the wire up into the junction box. Slide the fixture canopy over the nipple and against the wall. Screw the cup knot onto the nipple and hand tightly. Install the glass shades onto each of the lights by loosening the sets screws positioning the shade inside the casing and hand tightening the screws. Make sure the shades are securely in place before installing the recommended wattage bulb for you fixture. Once everything is finish turn the power back on at the breaker box and make sure you knew vanity light is working properly.
