Hello and welcome to total training for ASP.NET AJAX. My name is Asli Bilgin and I am author of the book, Mastering Database Programming with Visual Basic.net. I work in New York City as a developer evangelist for Microsoft. I focus on working with enterprises on Wall Street to implement best practices with the latest Microsoft technologies. Prior to joining Microsoft, I served as an architect in developer at Dell.
ASP.NET AJAX has been in strong demand with their customers at Microsoft. Why? There are many reasons. One is rich, because of the wide browser support. Second, productivity, the ASP.NET team has nicely packaged up thousands of lines of Java script code into easy to use controls on object. All in all, AJAX technology is your passport to heading all corners of the world with the slick web interface. Now keep in mind, you do not have to use ASP.NET in order to take advantage of these features.
However, ASP.NET exposes a lot of powerful functionality, such as membership, caching, and personalization. It would be a shame not to leverage that. In this series, we will show you how you can combine the power of ASP.NET with the sophistication of AJAX. Our focus in this series is to help you to build a serious web system by leveraging both the client side and server side code. Our focus will be on the behind the scenes infrastructure using client callable web services, data binding and authorization.
We try to focus on giving you content that is not already available on the internet. But I do encourage you to visit some of this content, specifically on AJAX.ASP.NET. You will find a large array of samples and “How do I” videos that do a great job demonstrating the robust user interface components and architectural patterns using code samples. Most importantly, I encourage you to watch the installation videos so that you have everything in place in order to get started with this series.
