I get emails all the time. People email me chris@pirillo.com and specially they have top five lists and I have got right here in my hands tips for Christmas shopping as submitted by the Enterprise 17 through YouTube which of course, you can find most of our videos. Now I am going to throw a one little tip in here because I know he is not going to get to it. If you are looking form bargains, discounts, coupons etcetera for your holiday shopping, Christmas shopping or just shopping throughout the year you can come over my chris.pirillo.com. We are constantly posting new coupons and of course the ones in the archive will be valid because we are keeping them up-to-date throughout the year.
Here are tips for Christmas shopping. One, early mornings and two hours before closing are always the deadest times. That's very true, in fact I do most of my shopping in some kind of store. Christmas shopping is hell, you know that's plenty and ironic at the same time. Yeah, I do most of my shopping towards the end of the day and I tend to wait till the last minute. I am kind of a procrastinator. That is just a -- the kind of person that I am when it comes to shopping. I don't like shopping that much. So I do most of my shopping online and that's open 24 hours a day. Online shopping it is the Web.
Number two, have your money, debit, credit card ready. It's the best way to avoid being suckered into a credit card, you don't need or can't afford, very true. Sometimes, you walk into a retailer, spend $100 or more dollars on whatever you are buying and the last you do want to get the ex-store credit card and you will save 20%, 10%, whatever the percentage happens to be or you will get some kind of free gift and those things are seldom worth it.
You got to be careful when you add any kind of new credit card to your well -- let's say stable of credit cards that you may already have and you have got to watch out for hidden fees, you got to know exactly the positives and negatives to having that card. Unless you shop at that store like all the time it's not worth it. Now getting some kind of rewards card is probably something different; meaning it is not a credit card you just swipe it every time you go in to the store to buy something and you could rack up points and get things like cash back from that.
I have had a few stores that I go to frequently and picked up rewards cards and they have paid off. Because I would have bought stuff anyway and then I get money back at the end of the year, month, etcetera, however it is done. Digging for small change or a loyalty card at the checkout, just annoys the cashier and the people behind you. So see, if you have a loyalty card just have it ready.
Your cameras and this is number four won't help me find what memory card your camera needs. The writing on the memory card is what you need to write down, got it. So if you are going in to a store and you are saying, I got a digital camera Casio, do you have the model number or even if you have the model number, do yourself a favor. Either find out what it is that your camera takes or take a sample memory card out of the camera to bring it in to the store and say, this is what I need. This, don't tell them this, tell them this, got it. Be very, very clear; it is a great tip.
Number five; if your item does not have a bar code on it, bring in another one that is a different size, they will put it back and they will make everything go faster; let me try that again. If your item does not have a bar code on it bring another one that is a different size, they will put it back and it will make everything go faster. I think someone was drinking real coal when he wrote that tip because I don't quite understand that.
So I am going to go on to number six but pretend its number five. If you don't want something just give it to the cashier it will get put back faster so someone who does want it can find it. So instead of you restocking something or just saying, "Oh, I don't want this item when I am checking out." Instead of just throwing it on to the shelf, you need to take it to the cashier and just say I didn't want it, and they will restock it and put back in the right place. That's actually very curteous; very, very curteous and of course I am guilty of just putting stuff back in random places.
