Clive Pearse: Today we are in Shirlington, Virginia where homeowners John Capotosto, Jeff Hops and Hanna the pooch need to go over the river and into their DC townhouse. They have not only purchased their new place but are needy in renovating it. Bottom line, they need to sell their house and sell it quick. Shane Tallant is on his way to help these guys out of Virginia and into the districts.
Shane Tallant: Let's check out your house.
Speaker: Come on in.
Shane Tallant: Although, I think you have got a great place, our real estate experts might not. What's that looking to you?
Female Speaker: This is disgusting. This is place is filthy. Shane is there is hair on the floor.
Shane Tallant: Well, this is where they groom their dog.
Female Speaker: Potential buyers are looking for a spa re-treatment, not a doggy day care.
Female Speaker2: So we are in the basement bathroom, right?
Shane Tallant: And it is the room that time forgot.
Female Speaker2: Yeah, well, we are bringing this room back up to the 21st century. For starters you have laminate floors that are furry and stained. So that's not going to sell your house any time fast. We are just going to update this all around. New Light fixture, new vanity, it's going to feel a luxurious big bathroom when we are finished. I can see there is two layers of laminate, that is not fine.
Simon Ley: But we have to get down some concrete. And we have to lay this pile directly on the concrete which means we have to get rid of this wild vinyl.
Female Speaker2: The wild vinyl has to go.
Simon Ley: So we have just finished up the bathroom. We have chosen the bone color to match the flex and the tile. And then once this is dry, we are going to put the cabinets on it.
Female Speaker2: Jeff, I have a surprise for you. New vanity and sink; they are streamlined, clean, updated compared to the old one. And within $188. You happy with the price?
Jeff Hops: Wow! It's great, it looks like a piece of furniture.
Simon Ley: Look at that, nice counter top to top it off.
Female Speaker2: I have the last of the paper towel roll. I am going to use it as my tool to create art for the bathroom. Buy the canvas, some paints, I want to use some colors that are going to work with the bathroom ceramics, and really add some contrast.
Clive Pearse: This small bathroom looked like a burned out pet place with unmatched counter tops and the remains of Hanna's hair brushing sessions. By tiling the floor, replacing the vanity and mirror and adding color and art on the walls, the result is a bathroom fit for humans.
Speaker: I would even take a shower here.
Female Speaker2: We redid this bathroom for under $500 and I mean we did everything. Light fixtures, vanity, toilets, floorings, accessories, we did it all.
