Jennifer Didonato: Hello welcome to MadefitTv I am your host Jennifer DiDonato and this is episode number 39, so thanks so much for joining us and in case you don't know MadefitTv is everyone source for health and fitness information and entertainment so prepare to be entertained, that's right. Today is going to be is question and answer how to stay motivated at the gym lot of people asking me this question I know that is march right now and spring break is starting to come, so get an air crowd you getting that crowd and that are being more you know focussed on getting in shape for spring break, which it is like well people you still started two months ago. But the New Years resolution people are starting to doing off and that is so not cool, because right now is the most important part.
The most crucial time for you, your New Year resolution people to stay at the gym and to keep your membership and to stay on your program because starting is hard it's a hurdle getting over but then once you get going you need to keep with it so please, please listen to me and listen to theses tips that I have for you.
But I just want to say that you don't want to give a share to some of your guys who actually brought this to my attention and motivation was really a big problem. Number 1 we got Clay from Paducah, Kentucky and Clay writes Jenn I have been a member of a local gym and get bored with cardio; I have gotten so bored with it that I have slacked off from even doing it. I have changed my music, watched TV, and done it with the friend but nothing. I get a good work out when I do it but I dread and I have slack from working out 4 days a weeks to now only two, what can I do to boost my ego and get more energized about cardio. And also Katrina you know Clay and I know long because Katrina from Huston Texas, right I would love to here any tips that you have about staying motivated and pushing yourself when you are not feeling it. Thanks, so here we go guys.
Number one thing I wanted to know to keep you motivated and keep you at the gym is to set small goals and stick to it. Whether your goal is you want to lose 25 pounds or you want to fit into a wedding dress or you want to lose the flab or you want to bench press 300 pounds okay that's great. Keep that goal but you want to know some you have to take a small steps to get there. So want you to do is focus on the small things you are going to do each day those small objectives and complete them and give yourself a goal for that week verses thinking about six months down the line or 20 pounds down the line because guys its so over warming and any one would be like you know what forget it there is just weight to much to do but I don't want you to think that way I want you to focus on the small goal set those small goals each week and focus on accomplishing those goals that week to take you to the next week and then your goal is going to keep improving, improving into eventually you get your goal may take 6 months, may take a year it doesn't matter because you are accomplishing what you are set out to do for that week so that's good motivation for you.
Number two prioritize your exercise okay we all have to go to work right we have to get the kids ready for school we all have to pay our bills okay this sis the same thing health and fitness is the exact same thing. And I think we have to work on everyday and that's thing is going to be for three or four hours a day but let's just say half hours 6 days a week I want to finish your schedule and it doesn't have to be the same time every single day you don't have to work out at 6 a.m. Monday to Friday if you have a meeting let say on Wednesday night like my fiance every night he has got late meetings until 9 ,10 clock okay we'll be Wednesdays are his off days so instead of working on Wednesday he is going to work out on Saturday we got a set it day with yourself make it a priority and stick to it its your health it's a priority stick to it.
Number three focus on the numbers, that really count now instead of focussing on the number of ensures I mean its good to always manage that may be weight yourself once a week or whatever but don't constantly obsess over those number instead focus on the numbers like at the gym, like lets say you know you got a workout 30 minutes today don't focus on how much weight you are going to lose how many calories you are going to burn today. Focus on those 30 minutes, okay I got 30 minutes okay I got 30 minutes in the treadmill and damp it I am going to do it and the other thing to another number lets say you know what I am doing bicep curls I am so exhausted do you know I want to get these biceps really pop all right I am hitting 15 reps todays instead of 12 and I haven't stop until I get that 15 so focus on those numbers kind of saying thing about setting a small goals don't think about big fix it on the line focused on now because now is when you are in control of it and now is the time were you can make those changes to bring you to the next level.
Number four eat healthier, when you eat healthier you know all the hard work that you just went through last week to burn all those calories so to get that point that you want to do you will accomplish that goal so when eat healthy that almost motivated its like you know what I am seeing the results this is awesome why do I want to take that 5 hours I did last week of exercise with 3 hours or whatever and just blow it for two minutes on eating a super size value meal I mean it takes you a second to eat that it took you 3 hours and all that time to accomplish last week your wok out so when you eat healthier lot of my clients say a lot of people it's a kind of mental thing the health you eat the more you don't want undo what's you did, so try just looking up your diet and of course your results really do depend on how you are eating so fill your body right so you get those results that you want.
Number five secretly have a competition with yourself and what I mean by this is it could be any one from a friend it could be some at the gym you never even met don't even tell any body I want to kind of picturing you ahead okay, who is that person in the gym that's look awesome not undertainably awesome like they are not like a body builder or anything like someone is like oh my the guy is so lean or you know the girl she has got such awesome like calf muscles or whatever. Find somebody or something that you look at and you say you know what I can look like that and just set a competition for yourself and you can also do another way to like see someone may be that you are like, Oh my god I don't want to look like that you know so set a goal saying I about to never look like that and set that small like competition in your head to try and beat that person or try and get to their level put in your head don't tell anybody just a little kind of pack with yourself okay that might be a good motivation for you as well.
All right number six surround yourself with supported people and now every one here is friends that have different hobbies and different interests. If your friend likes hockey you are making a rage and then say like hockey same thing with this if fitness and health is the priority, which it should be if you are friends are supportive a bit or they keep ragging on you because you are not going up to the bar every single night and drinking then may be its time just around yourself with people that more conducive to your goal and to your goals and to what you value in life because hey that's what friends are for or friends of people who give us support or friends are the people who are who make us feel good about ourselves. If you have a friend who may be is over weight and they feel crappie about themselves and the only thing they can make them betters to go out and smoke and drink or whatever things that I am not saying I greet to distribute those things but if they are something that you just agree with but they are trying to bring you down and try to back pedal and try to make you feel like your priority to your health or your fitness, you're nutrition isn't good you don't want to be surrounded by those people you know what I mean so keep those people around you they can hold your support and give you that motivation. To make you feel good and to encourage you because there is nothing wrong of being healthy and bring fit and no one can tell you otherwise which is brings me into number seven don't give up your power always have control of yourself, no matter what situation brought you to this point that you feel like you want to make it change its all up to you to make that change.
One can make you eat that pizza like I aid you go out with friends no one can make you eat that pizza and you know what who gives the crap what's it to them of you don't eat the pizza because you want to know something if they want to do something that you don't want to do it because they feel bad about themselves and they want to bring you down.
So no one has control over you but yourself. No one tells you, oh! come on you cans sacrifice your work out come out with us for an hour we know it if you missed your work out yesterday and you are going to miss it today your friends will be able to miss you for one more hour fro another day free to go and do your work out, so only you have control over yourself and only you have the power to just make the decision and make these changes only yo do. You can do it I know you can so new year resolution people if you around the bring and you are like you know what I just want to give the member ship stop don't do it first some one is coming up come on you want to look height you want to feel good about yourself inside and out.
