Chris Pirillo: Okay everybody, say cheese, say cheese. Oh! Perfect, perfect. I couldn't ask for a better pose there. Well, I am not just taking pictures for arguments, it's leading to the top five tips for taking pictures of pets and kids as submitted by Henry Slovaniak (ph). Henry, we appreciate this submission, I don't have any kids at least at this point in time, but I do have a couple of pets and I have taken plenty of pictures of those dogs; Wicket and Pixie and so I've got to be useful and helpful to pass these tips along.
Number one, take as many pictures as possible. Thanks to digital cameras, you can take hundreds of pictures and then just pick up the bad ones and delete those and keep the good ones. Some cameras have a rapid take feature and that makes it very useful to get a good shot.
Number two, don't make them pose, simply give them some toys or in a pet's case, some treats and better be careful; if I said that too then Wicket and Pixie will come running up here, so that's their word as treats and start taking pictures, try do a candid shot, not too posed.
Number three, experiment, try different filters and editing programs, you will never know how useful the software on your computer might be.
Number four, lighting, make sure there is enough light and try to use the flash as little as possible, reducing the use of flash also means less Red-eye pictures.
Number five, sending and printing. Make sure when you want to print them, get good photo paper and a good photo printer. If you are sending them an email, send them at highest resolution possible, you don't want to send someone a small or fuzzy picture. Very, very good things to talk about here.
Now this particular digital camera, when I talked about the other day, it happens to have a best shot mode; one for kids or children and one for pet. But anytime I take pictures, I try not to use the flash, these are general tips as well. It's called the different thing in each particular camera. I am seeing if I can find the exact word for it on this one, I am not sure if I am seeing it, record-- Ah! There we go, Continuous mode. That's the mode you are looking for, Continuous. If I turn it on, let's say, normal speed or high speed, I am going to -- yeah! you should be able to hear this. I can keep the shutter held down and it will keep firing and firing. Of course, it's also flashing, I can turn flash off, just by -- I mean each digital camera is different but that way I can just basically hold it very steady and hold it down and then keep the button depressed and then keep the scene but they have it re-shoot, re-shoot, re-shoot. Another thing I am going to tell you, what to pick up. This is that you need to carry along, no matter where you go or even if you are at home, get one of these. This is very useful, very handy for clubbing both kids and pets if they are not paying attention to what you are trying to do. I always carry one of these things around just to bash. They are also good for baby seals. I have been told, I never actually bashed a baby seal though, I guess that's illegal.
No, I am not advocating that you hurt anybody or anything. This is actually a monopod, mono meaning one. See, look at that, see that, I am reaching out, if I get it a little bit further here, and maybe I will actually touch the camera if I keep stretching inside of it. The monopod is very useful for steading the camera when you can't have a steady hand and this is something that I have seen a lot of carry around especially if you are going to take like night photography or low-light photography and you don't want to use the flash, that's something to keep in mind. I have talked about, how to decrease Red-eye as well and -- oops! Well you don't want to unscrew your monopod, but I think you get the idea. Somebody has to be -- maybe I deserve to beaten with the monopod, who knows.
Anyway, I appreciate those tips for taking pictures of both pets and kids and/or taking both at the same time. But anyway, if you have top five tips for photography, top five tips for managing digital cameras, software for digital cameras and top five tips about anything whether it's related to technology or not, I would love to hear from you, my email address is chris@pirillo.com and I am always checking my email, may not respond to it all, may it would not be a lengthy response, but I do check it.
