How to Update Blackberry Storm 9500/9530
Bowman here at BWOne.com, I’m going to give you one clue on how to do a wireless update on your new Blackberry Storm. Now this new Blackberry storm has created such a big buzz. I have a lot of friends out that this is first time that I’ve ever had a Blackberry so they’re not too familiar with the operating system and how to kind of maneuver through it and a lot of one ask me so how do I like it the latest update so we pretty get put a warp through up online for those that are wondering how to that are new to Blackberries. So let’s get started.
First thing here is that you have the automatic updates turned on within the system. It will actually get the update icon eventually from Verizon and it will show up right here in your desktop and as you click that it will take you right to the update instructions. If that doesn’t show I’m going to show you how to get through it, just going through the right menu system. So if we go the main menu and we scroll down to options then you want to go to advanced options and scroll down to the bottom but I’ve already down here at the bottom we’re it says wireless upgrade. Click that. It’s going to give you an instruction to wireless upgrade process to system to steps, requesting in the software, download a new software and then upgrading a software in your Blackberry device.
Now, I will recommend doing this. I will recommend definitely backing up all of your data on the device just in case something happens to the wireless update. It doesn’t really reset anything. Well, just in case something happened and you definitely want to back it up so when you get to the screen you click next and to upgrade. It’s already there. We’ll show it here if it’s not you can highlight the bottom and click check for upgrade and once it’s finished it will show you latest OS we just upgrade before it’s done to 7.0.75 so you just click on there. They will give you the description of what the enhancements are in the Blackberry or the software.
So it’s a priority is slow but I definitely recommend getting this update as soon as possible because it’s definitely improves a lot of things within the Blackberry operating system. So just click next. I’ll say some editing upgrade request and then I’ll come with this screen. I actually going to start download, just click start download right there at the bottom.
Download is about 14 megabytes and if you’re in good EVDO coverage it should download relatively fast. Okay once it starts to download you can do one of two things. You can upgrade now. You can start so many upgrades. If you actually click schedule the upgrade it will actually give you a start time or start date option and a friend which able before. If you’re done you can click the back button there and you can go to upgrade now which is what we’re going to do and click update now and it will warn you’ll be enable to use the device to make more easy calls for up to two hours. You can upgrade now and schedule the update and it gives you one more chance to put what you want to do but we’re going to obviously going to upgrade here. So we click upgrade now and verify the upgrade and it will start to do a pretty upgrade process shortly.
I’ll give you a low bit of progression right in here so you’ll see what’s going on and it will give you the elapsed time. It’s going to back every data using your database, themes that actually tell you how it’s backing things up and what percentage is backing that up in the elapse time here at the bottom.
Okay once the update is complete you should be at your main Blackberry screen right here with all your settings restored. Now we have to data restored up to the device. To verify that you do have the update, you want to go to the main Blackberry’s menu here, click on options then go to the first line here which says about, if you look down to about the third line if they tell you what version of the software that you are on we were cruising on folk lines 4.7.0.65. We are now on version 12.7.0.75 which is the latest firmware for the Blackberry storm.
So that is just a quick tutorial on how to do that if you never use blackberry before and you want to know how to update and how to update wirelessly or opt OTA which stands off the air. That’s how it’s done. So this is how to update the Blackberry Storm 9530 wirelessly a.k.a OTA., Over The Air and this is Bowman from BWOne.com reminding you to live your tech world in high definition.
