Hey Guys, David Risley here with the davidrisley.com with another pro-blogger flip tip. So I had another reader of davidrisley.com submit a question to me and asked at davidrisley.com and this question was from Janet Johnson and she then ask me, well she asks two questions and again I will get to the other one in another video but for this one I want to answer. What is the best way to use Twitter to promote your blog? So it is a good question because a lot of people that when they get on the Twitter, they have designs of using Twitter simply to promote something and that are perfectly fine. It just depends on how you do it, so the first thing that I would recommend would be to get your latest post from you blog, set your Twitter Feed automatically.
The best way to do that is that you would use twitterfeed.com and what Twitter Feed would do is to simply tap in to your blogs RSS feed on to some schedule that you would tell it. Usually like every hour or you could say every four hours or whatever and if it sees anything new, it is just going to take your latest headline. Maybe a small little blur because obviously we only have 140 characters to work with here and it is going to send out a link.
And I think you can even tell on what link service you want to use whether you would use tiny URL, or to shorten it or the other ones, so you have some control over that and it is all automatic. Now I use this on both davidrisley.com and pcmag.com. I have all of my latest posts setup to my Twitter Feed automatically. But the thing that you also want to keep in mind is you do not want your Twitter Feed to become nothing but a copy of your RSS feed for your blogs, so it is important that you also be human on the twitter account.
You want to actually post things manually on your own and interact with the Twitter crowd because that is really what it is all about, this is a social media, so put out your latest blogpost on there but also be human. Talk about what is going on your day, you might even be able to more strategic about it because there is a lot of people out there that do not really give a shit quite honestly of what you have for lunch. So just tell them and maybe point out other stories from other blogs that are related to your blog audience and maybe say what you might be working on that your particular blog audience might be interested in. You can ask questions of your Twitter followers in order to provoke answers from them and just kind of work it like you might do your blog because that is basically what it is and it is kind of like a little mini blog.
So that is the best way to use Twitter as to A be social and B type your latest post using Twitter Feed and your Twitter account. Those are my two tips for you Janet, so good luck with that and good luck with using Twitter to promote your blog and I will see you guys on the next video.
